Castles and museums in Arrecife
St Gabriel's Castle
Built in 1572–73 on what is now known as the “Islote del Castillo”, it connects to the mainland via the historic “Puente de las Bolas” bridge. Today, it houses the Archaeological Museum.
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10:00–13:00 and 16:00–19:00
San José Castle - Museum of Contemporary Art
Built between 1776–1779 to protect the port of Naos and provide work for the local population. It now hosts the International Museum of Contemporary Art, a project initiated by the Lanzarote-born artist César Manrique.

Castles and museums in Teguise
Santa Barbara Castle
Originally constructed atop a 14th-century fortress built by Lancelotto Malocello. It currently houses the Piracy Museum.
Santo Domingo Convent
Founded in 1698 by Captain Rodríguez Carrasco, a native of Teguise. Today, it’s a contemporary art gallery featuring exhibitions from internationally renowned artists.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday (except Saturday), 10:00–15:00
San Francisco de Teguise Convent
Only the church remains, originally dedicated to Our Lady of Miraflores. It has been converted into the Museum of Sacred Art, preserving original elements such as Baroque altarpieces dedicated to Our Lady of Miraflores, Saint Anthony of Padua, and the Immaculate Conception.
Spínola palace
It is a clear example of the stately architecture of Lanzarote. In the eighteenth century was the residence of the Governor of the island, and its restoration and decoration were advised at all times by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique.
Opening hours: Summer: 09:00h – 15:00h from Monday to Sunday (Saturday closed) / Winter: 09:00h – 16:00h from Monday to Sunday (Saturday closed).
Cesar Manrique foundation
The foundation preserves and promotes the work of César Manrique (1919–1992), while also supporting art, culture, and environmental protection through exhibitions, talks, and publications.

Castles and museums in San Bartolomé
Wine Museum Bodegas El GRIFO
The oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the 10 oldest in Spain, family-owned since 1775.
The Wine Museum is located at the heart of the vineyard estate, on the road to the Monumento al Campesino in the village of Masdache.
Opening hours: Daily from 10:30–18:00, including holidays.
Tanit Ethnographic Museum
Declared a site of cultural and tourist interest, it’s located in the center of the island in San Bartolomé. Built over the old cellars of an 18th-century Canarian house, it offers a comprehensive look at local heritage, traditions, and daily life until the mid-20th century.
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 10:00–14:00

Agricultural Museum El Patio
The old farmhouse houses the ethnographic museum, where the materials on display allow the visitor to understand those hard times.
Opening hours: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and closed on Sundays.
Art, Culture and Tourism Centres
In the 1960s, the visionary artist César Manrique pioneered the integration of art, architecture, and environmental conservation across the island. His legacy lives on in Lanzarote’s network of Art, Culture, and Tourism Centres—true cultural landmarks.
In the Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism of Lanzarote two main thematic routes can be established: The Northern Route and the Southern Route.
